Five-year-old Boca Raton twins Bella and Gemma Correa could be America’s next child stars. That’s because the duo are being counted as one of five female finalists in PETA Kids’ 2014 Cutest Vegan Kids contest, and now it’s up to voters to help PETA Kids decide whom it should pick to be the winners—one girl (or in this case, possibly two!) and one boy—who will be announced on March 3. Voting ends at 12 noon EST on March 3, and each winner will receive a PETA Kids prize pack and appear in a PETA Kids ad.
“Bella and Gemma are very proud that they made the kind and healthy choice to go vegan, and their smart decision could soon place them in the national spotlight,” says PETA Director of Youth Outreach and Campaigns Marta Holmberg. “Everyone who goes vegan saves nearly 100 animals every year from daily suffering and a terrifying death, and all our contestants are setting an example that should be followed by young and old alike.”
Bella and Gemma went vegan more than a year ago because they love animals and don’t want to eat them. But their commitment doesn’t end at the dinner table. They volunteer at local animal shelters and adoption events, and they always pitch in to help out with the cats, ducks, and geese their family fosters. Their favorite foods include veggie dogs, just about any fruit, and vegan pizza, and they love doing ballet and gymnastics. When it comes to show and tell at school, you can count on Bella and Gemma to pass around pictures of cats, dogs, and even animals rescued from farms in need of a permanent home. So what do two little girls who can’t seem to do enough to help animals want to be when they grow up? Veterinarians, of course.
PETA Kids will select the winners based on several factors, including vote count. See the full contest details here.
