Newly elected Harrisburg Mayor Eric Papenfuse’s decision to cancel the inaugural ball to save the cash-strapped city money might be a blessing in disguise. That’s because two PETA beauties wearing nothing but lettuce-leaf bikinis will brave the wintry cold outside City Hall on Thursday to hand out free Beyond Meat wraps from Tropical Smoothie Café to passersby. The delectable duo’s point? That going vegan is the best way to keep your body fit and trim and cut down on costly medical bills.
When: Thursday, January 9, 12 noon
Where: Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. City Government Center, 10 N. Second St. (near the intersection with Market Street), Harrisburg
“If you want to keep your body in shape and substantially cut your risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, going vegan is the only way to go,” says “Lettuce Lady” Ashley Byrne. “The residents of Pennsylvania’s capital city are in a perfect position to set a healthy and compassionate example for the rest of the Keystone State.”
In addition to helping fight off leading killer diseases, every person who goes vegan saves the lives of more than 100 animals every year.
