Food supplies were running low at the Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Program in Sarasota, Florida, and with Christmas just around the corner, officials sent out an urgent plea for donations. Wanting to show goodwill, help the less fortunate, and make sure that no animals had to be harmed in the process, PETA rushed a supply of vouchers for vegan Tofurky roasts to the food bank.

Real Housewives of Miami star Joanna Krupa teamed up with PETA to make it happen, and the savory roasts were generously donated by Turtle Island Foods.

“The holidays are a great time to remember all living beings and try to bring a little comfort and joy to everyone,” says PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk. “Healthy vegan meals offer needy families a delicious, nonviolent way to come together and celebrate.”
