Call it a comeback for the San Diego Chargers, whose Qualcomm Stadium has landed back on PETA’s list of the Top Five Vegetarian-Friendly NFL Stadiums in the country after falling off the list in 2012. The stadium earned the fifth spot on the list, thanks to its Farm to Fan stand—which features veggie burgers, two kinds of hummus, roasted vegetable wraps, and a vegetarian build-your-own-salad cart with locally grown produce—and the new gourmet “Vegan With Vedge” menu, which is offered in the stadium’s luxury suites. And don’t miss the dairy- and egg-free chocolate-chip cookies.

“From fun and exciting meat-free sandwiches to creative gourmet meals, Chargers fans can indulge in some of the tastiest vegan food in the country,” says PETA Associate Director Ryan Huling. “The Bolts might have their work cut out for them in a tough division this year, but when it comes to the concession stands, San Diego is among the elite.”

Developed in collaboration with two chefs from Philadelphia’s gourmet Vedge restaurant, the “Vegan With Vedge” menu offers a variety of delicious options, such as the innovative golden-beet dish, made with smoked tofu, capers, avocado, and red onion and served with bagel chips (a vegan take on lox and bagels); Portobello Carpaccio (with flavors reminiscent of a Reuben sandwich); and marinated peel-and-eat lupine beans that have a Buffalo-sauce flavor.

Qualcomm Stadium topped PETA’s list in 2008, nabbed the number 10 spot in 2009, and received an honorable mention in 2010 and 2011 before falling off the list in 2012. This year, it’s joined on the list by the Philadelphia Eagles’ Lincoln Financial Field (first place), the Kansas City Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium (second place), the Oakland Raiders’ O.co Coliseum (third place), and the Detroit Lions’ Ford Field (fourth place). Receiving honorable mentions are the homes of the Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, and Arizona Cardinals.
