Lions Nab Fourth Place on PETA’s List of Top Five Vegetarian-Friendly NFL Stadiums

Veggie Burgers, Grilled Veggie Wraps, and ‘The Genius’ Bump Ford Field up a Notch From Last Year’s Finish

The Detroit Lions are surging both on and off the field. That’s because Ford Field has grabbed the number four spot on PETA’s list of the Top Five Vegetarian-Friendly NFL Stadiums in the country after being ranked number five last year. That’s thanks to a variety of delicious vegetarian and vegan options as close by as the nearest concession stand.

“It’s no wonder that Ford Field is home to the NFL’s best receiver and its most fearsome defender,” says PETA Associate Director Ryan Huling. “Protein-packed meals, including vegan barbeque sandwiches and veggie and tofu flatbreads, keep athletes and fans going strong right through game day.”

Discriminating fans can’t go wrong with the grilled veggie wrap or the delicious and satisfying Levy veggie burger available at the general concession stands. And the Lions faithful in the club-level areas won’t want to miss Slows’ “The Genius”—a mouthwatering meat-free barbecue sandwich. Other sure-fire vegetarian winners at Ford Field include Russell St. Deli black-eyed peas and collard soup at the club-level concession stands. Fans in the suites sections can enjoy the Vegetarian Game Day Sampler, which includes a Going Green tomato salad, mini veggie burgers, Sloppy Jane sandwiches, and summer veggie and tofu flatbread. The Vegan Game Day Sampler includes an appetizer trio of guacamole, white-bean hummus, and spicy salsa with tortilla chips.

The Motor City has been on a roll lately. The Detroit Tigers’ Comerica Park came in second in PETA’s Top 10 Vegetarian-Friendly Major League Ballparks rankings earlier this year, and the Detroit Pistons’ The Palace at Auburn Hills made the list of the Top 10 Vegetarian-Friendly NBA Arenas. Joining Ford Field on the list top vegetarian-friendly NFL stadiums are the Philadelphia Eagles’ Lincoln Financial Field (first place), the Kansas City Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium (second place), the Oakland Raiders’ O.co Coliseum (third place), and the San Diego Chargers’ Qualcomm Stadium (fifth place). Receiving honorable mentions are the homes of the Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, and Arizona Cardinals.
