What:             A massive inflatable PETA “dinosaur” is going to make sure President Trump gets a supportive budget-slashing message as he arrives at Palm Beach International Airport en route to Mar-A-Lago, the orange and brown beast sharing the message that NIH’s animal tests belong to a prehistoric age. The sign is a response to the president’s call for ideas on how to end government waste and reads:  “SLASH the NIH Budget! $23 Billion Wasted on Animal Tests in 2024.”  Since over 95% of new drugs tested “safe and effective” in animals later fail in human use, modernizing that one federal agency would enhance human health and save money. PETA scientists have developed a strategy to replace wasteful animal experiments with state-of-the-art, human species-relevant research methods. It’s called the Research Modernization Plan.

“Every year, NIH flushes billions of dollars down the drain on painful and pointless and painful experiments on animals that have been shown to benefit no one by the bureaucrats and career experimenters who are taking the taxpayers for a ride,” says PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo. “PETA urges President Trump to take a sledgehammer to NIH’s bloated budget, starting with these wasteful animal tests.”
