The Colgate Darden Memorial Garden will go to the dogs on Thursday when PETA hosts its annual General Assembly Breakfast alongside a playful pack of adorable rescued pups—including some available for adoption. The event promises to brighten legislators’ day amid chilly temps by giving them a chance to cozy up to their canine constituents, enjoy tasty treats from Hampton Roads hotspots Yorgo’s Bageldashery and My Vegan Sweet Tooth, and chat with PETA representatives about ways to help animals in 2025.
“The General Assembly Breakfast is a wonderful opportunity for lawmakers to grab some goodies and learn about PETA’s legislative priorities to protect animals, from captive wild baby animals torn away from their mothers at roadside zoos to nonhuman primates subjected to years of painful, ghastly experiments,” says PETA Senior Vice President Daphna Nachminovitch. “PETA invites everyone to join us as we explore how we can work together to make Virginia a kinder, safer place for all.”
Where: Colgate Darden Memorial Garden, 1198 Capitol Street, Richmond (outside the General Assembly building)
When: Thursday, January 23, 9:45 a.m.-11:45 a.m.
