Ariana Grande, Chappell Roan, Taylor Swift Among Winners of 2024 peta2 Animal Liberation Awards

For using their massive platforms to promote vegan food and cruelty-free products, encouraging fans to adopt from animal shelters, and advocating for animals imprisoned at marine parks, Ariana Grande, Chappell Roan, Taylor Swift, and Jules and Hayley LeBlanc are winners of peta2’s 2024 Libby Awards. “Libby” stands for “liberation,” and each year peta2—part of PETA’s youth division—presents the awards to individuals, brands, and products that go above and beyond for animals. This year’s honorees include:

• Ariana Grande won Best Viral Moment for Animals for her spicy appearance on Hot Ones, where she chowed down on animal-free wings and proudly talked about being vegan. The video has racked up more than 8 million views and counting.
• Chappell Roan is peta2’s Pawsome Animal Adoption Advocate for visiting an animal shelter while on tour to showcase some of the wonderful adoptable dogs waiting for homes. She has also posted about her late rescued guinea pigs on social media, including honoring their lives for Día de Muertos.
• Taylor Swift takes home the award for Favorite Vegan and Cruelty-Free Celeb Product for The Tortured Poets Department vegan leather journal, a chic and sturdy notebook made without animals’ body parts.
• Jules and Hayley LeBlanc’s campaign urging people to “ghost” SeaWorld earned the sisters the award for Favorite peta2 Collab for speaking out about how the marine park imprisons highly intelligent dolphins and whales in tiny, barren concrete tanks, forces them to perform, and even sexually abuses them.

“From bringing attention to the suffering of animals at marine parks to taking time out of a tour to showcase adoptable dogs, these compassionate celebs are making a difference for animals every day,” says peta2 Vice President Rachelle Owen. “peta2 encourages everyone to follow their lead by living vegan, always adopting their companion animals, and never visiting marine parks that exploit animals for entertainment.”

Libby Award winners will receive a personalized certificate from peta2 and a year’s worth of bragging rights. Other 2024 nominees include Halsey, Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, Sydney Sweeney, and Millie Bobby Brown.
