Today, PETA honored Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.-03) with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his decades of animal advocacy. As co-chair of the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus, Rep. Blumenauer led initiatives on behalf of African lions threatened with extinction, monkeys tormented in neurological experiments or used as pets, wolves killed by government agencies, elephants hunted for entertainment, horses being slaughtered, bees poisoned with toxic pesticides, and more.
“Rep. Blumenauer has set the gold standard for leadership in animal advocacy in government,” says Dr. Alka Chandna, PETA Vice President of Laboratory Oversight and Special Cases. “We are pleased to honor his work with this award,” says Chandna.
