Dinosaurs” will roam the Earth once more on Sunday, as a pair of PETA supporters in giant blow-up Tyrannosaurus costumes will live it up at Support + Feed and Billie Eilish’s climate activism conference, Overheated, bearing signs reading, “Be Like Billie! Evolve and Go Vegan.” The cretaceous crusaders will remind attendees that anyone who cares about the planet’s future should have a major bone to pick with the meat, egg, and dairy industries, given that animal agriculture alone is responsible for nearly one-fifth of human-induced greenhouse gas emissions.
“The meat, egg, and dairy industries might as well be a massive asteroid hurtling toward us, as the methane and contaminants they spew out spell certain doom for the planet and everyone on it,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA urges everyone to follow Billie Eilish’s lead and go vegan before the climate catastrophe makes us all go the way of the dinosaurs.”
Where: Outside State Farm Arena, 1 State Farm Dr., Atlanta
When: Sunday, November 3, 10 a.m.
Why: PETA notes that animal agriculture is a leading cause of water pollution and land degradation, and the United Nations reports that a global shift toward vegan eating is vital in order to combat the worst effects of the climate catastrophe. Each person who goes vegan lowers their food-related carbon footprint by up to 73%—making it the single most effective way to reduce one’s negative impact on the planet—and spares the lives of nearly 200 animals a year. PETA offers a free vegan starter kit for those ready to make the switch.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
