Below, please see a statement from PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman in response to the escape of eight bulls—seven of whom have reportedly been recaptured—from a rodeo in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, yesterday:
We have seen it last year in Utah, this summer in Oregon, and now in Massachusetts: When bulls, who can be quite manageable and even gentle when not provoked, get the chance to escape being shocked with electric prods, wounded with sharp spurs, and slammed to the ground in rodeos, they take the chance to flee as anyone else would. Rodeos put animal torment at center stage, and PETA urges people everywhere to stay away. Meanwhile, these bulls deserve to live!
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
