Following a hydrothermal blast that violently shook parts of Yellowstone National Park’s Biscuit Basin last week, PETA is calling for an encore eruption—of compassion! In a blitz of visual appeals set to go up throughout Idaho Falls Regional Airport this month, the group seeks to light a fire under Yellowstone-bound travelers by reminding them that each person who goes vegan spares nearly 200 thinking, feeling animals a miserable life and a violent death every year.

“Every animal is an individual who feels pain and fear, values their own life, and doesn’t want to be slaughtered and carved up for food any more than we would,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “PETA encourages everyone to ignite their empathy for all and please go vegan.”

Cows, pigs, chickens, and other animals endure short, miserable lives in the meat, egg, and dairy industries, where they’re subjected to extreme crowding, routine mutilations without pain relief, a terrifying trip to the slaughterhouse, and a violent, agonizing death. Many are ineffectively stunned and killed while still conscious.

In addition to sparing animals a lifetime of suffering, each person who goes vegan dramatically shrinks their food-related carbon footprint and slashes their risk of developing cancer, heart disease, and other illnesses. PETA’s free vegan starter kit can help those looking to make the switch.

PETA’s ads will be located in the baggage claim area, the upstairs and downstairs waiting areas, and above the escalators at Idaho Falls Regional Airport beginning August 12.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kitsfor people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
