In time for National Donut Day (June 7), PETA has concocted a list of the top eateries from across the U.S. that are dishing up the most delectable donuts without relying on eggs and dairy—and it’s jam-packed with pastry purveyors that are dunking on Dunkin’, one cruelty-free cruller at a time. Here are the patisseries that made the list, in no particular order.

In America’s heartland, winners include Madison, Wisconsin–based Level 5 Donuts, where the Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp and fluffy, custard-filled Boston Dream donuts are truly on another level. In Omaha, Nebraska, diners at Veg.Edible can nab perfected classics like Chocolate Glazed with Sprinkles, Cinnamon Sugar, and Vanilla Glazed with Sprinkles. In San Antonio, Cake Thieves Bakery & Eatery’s stacked lineup includes Banana Pudding, Cookie Butter, Horchata, Lavender Lime, and Strawberry Shortcake.

On the East Coast, winners include Yellow Rose Vegan Bakery & Cafe in Maplewood, New Jersey, where the menu changes daily and features a rotating selection of longtime favorites including “Krispy Kreme”–style glazed, Créme Brûlée, and Rosewater Pistachio. Flavors change weekly at Bitchin’ Donuts in Albany, New York, but tantalizing crowd-favorite varieties such as Boston Creme and Maple Glazed are served daily.

In the Western U.S., Little Vessels Donut Co. in Honolulu is whipping up flavors inspired by the owner’s childhood, resulting in out-of-this-world options such as Guava Cookie Mac Nut, Lemon Black Sesame, and Miso Caramel Furikake.

“These doughlightfully decadent donuts deliver on flavor and are compassionate to hens and cows,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “Every aglazeing bakery on PETA’s list proves that being kind to animals isa sweet deal—one melt-in-your-mouth vegan donut at a time.”

Each winner will receive a framed certificate from PETA along with bragging rights.
