Here for the barks! Forget the influencers—dazzling dogs are the stars at Poochella, a twist on Coachella, which will see dozens of adoptable canines from 10 area animal shelters gather for a tail-wagging good time at PETA’s riverfront park on Saturday. Guests will be able to bond with their new best friends, receive dog care and training tips from local shelter experts, and enjoy delicious vegan burgers donated by Hungry Planet.
When: Saturday, May 4, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Where: PETA’s Bea Arthur Dog Park, 501 Front St., Norfolk
“Every dog is a VIP at Poochella, where prospective animal guardians can meet a future family member during a fun festival,” says PETA Senior Vice President Daphna Nachminovitch. “With local shelters filled with wonderful dogs in need of loving homes, PETA is inviting the public to help stem the tide of animal homelessness by swearing off breeders and adopting—not shopping—for animals.”
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kitsfor people who need a lesson in kindness.
