URGENT: Urge Nigerian Officials to Stop Serial Animal Torturer
Update (February 12, 2024): Nigerian officials have announced the opening of an investigation into this case. However, they still need to hear from you!
Update (February 6, 2024): Although PETA has repeatedly contacted Nigerian officials about the vicious torture of animals by this sadistic individual, there’s been no response and the man continues to post horrific videos. Even if you’ve already contacted the officials listed below, please do so again and demand that they take action immediately to stop this abuse!
Original post:
Note: There are NO graphic visuals in this alert.
Horrific depictions of animals being tortured and killed are being regularly posted to Facebook by a maniacal individual calling himself “Enenie nwa ite” and claiming to be the “high chief” of a village he calls “Ovoko ohagu” in Nsukka (in the state of Enugu), Nigeria. In these videos, he and his cohorts are seen roasting, beating, and burning goats, puppies, and monkeys to death as well as cutting apart living animals they have bound and starved. Some are deliberately tortured to death before the eyes of their frantic mothers, who are also bound. Although we aren’t making these extremely disturbing videos or screen grabs from them available in this alert, those who wish to know more can find greater detail in our e-mail to Nigerian officials.
The conduct in the videos appears to explicitly violate section 495 of Nigeria’s Criminal Code Act, which prohibits torturing animals and causing them unnecessary suffering, and section 450, which prohibits the unlawful wounding and killing of animals. And although PETA caseworkers have alerted Nigerian officials, we’ve yet to receive any acknowledgment of our letter demanding that this man be stopped.
Please politely beseech the following officials in Nigeria to use the information given to them by PETA and to intervene quickly, before more animals suffer. Urge them to remove any animals found in this person’s possession and to file any appropriate charges:
