Please see the following statement from PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo regarding the unfolding fraud investigation into four experimenters at the Dana-Farber Cancer Center, affiliated with Harvard University, who received federal grants totaling more than $300 million but have asked for retractions of four published papers and corrections to many more. PETA has asked the National Institutes of Health to cut funding for these experimenters and not fund them in the future if they’re found to have manipulated data:

If these experimenters, affiliated with Harvard University, are found guilty of research misconduct, they’ve stolen public money and cheated both science and people suffering from cancer. You can’t get much lower than that. But missing from the discussion are the animal victims. Each of these experimenters has sickened and killed animals, and no retraction or correction can change that.

There are other bad actors at Harvard who don’t seem to care that pointless experimentation robs taxpayers of their hard-earned money, humans of cures, and animals of their lives, which is why the university should redirect its ample resources toward modern, non-animal research methods that will actually help humans.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness.
