Homeless Dogs to Take Center Stage at Poochella Adoption Festival

Coachella may be over, but Poochella is just getting started! On Saturday, PETA will welcome visitors to its riverfront dog park for a howling good time at this annual adoption event, featuring dozens of adoptable dogs from nine area animal shelters ready to meet their new families. Guests will be able to bond with their new best friends, get dog care and training tips from local shelter experts, and enjoy delicious Mexican-inspired vegan vittles from Hangry’s food truck.
When: Saturday, May 13, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.

“Local shelters are overflowing with wonderful dogs who need and deserve the love and security of a permanent home,” says PETA Senior Vice President Daphna Nachminovitch. “PETA invites everyone who has the time and resources for a dog to come find their newest family member at Poochella, and anyone who can’t make it can still do their part by always adopting—never buying—animals.”
Among last year’s success stories is Eleanor, a beagle who had been left in an outdoor hutch 24/7 before she was surrendered to PETA. At Poochella, a family with another rescued beagle fell in love with her at first sight, and now she spends her days lounging and playing with her new sibling.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
