Reward in Local Dog Abuse Case Reaches $10,000

PETA Seeks Help Finding Culprit(s) Who Left Bound, Beaten Dog in Dumpster

PETA is offering a reward of up to $8,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for torturing a dog and leaving him tied up by a necktie inside an apartment complex dumpster near the University of North Carolina –Charlotte campus. PETA’s reward is in addition to the $2,000 offered by the local animal rescue group currently caring for the dog, bringing the possible claimable amount to as much as $10,000.

The tan-and-white pit bull, approximately 2 years old and now named Joey, was discovered at around 2:45 p.m. on February 5. He’s now safe and receiving medical treatment, but exams revealed that he’d been violently abused over a prolonged period, with evidence of many broken bones and a reported loss of vision in one eye due to repeated beatings.

To ensure justice for Joey and to help keep other dogs safe, PETA is asking for the public’s help.

“This dog’s existence must have been filled with daily pain and terror, always in fear and anticipation of the next torture session,” says PETA Senior Vice President Daphna Nachminovitch. “PETA is seeking the public’s help so that whoever abused and dumped this dog can be held accountable and stopped from hurting anyone else.”
