Vegan turkey roasts are coming home to roost in the Big D, courtesy of PETA supporters who will gather at the Ronald Kirk Bridge on Sunday and give away 50 free Field Roast Celebration Roasts to encourage people to keep intelligent, inquisitive, and sensitive birds off the table and celebrate “ThanksVeganinstead.

When:    Sunday, November 13, 6 p.m.

Where:    Ronald Kirk Bridge (at the end near Gulden Lane), Dallas

“Turkeys are gentle individuals who love their families, feel pain and fear, and want to live as much as humans do,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is encouraging everyone to see the similarities between all sentient beings, eat vegan, and spare turkeys, 46 million of whom who are slaughtered every year for Thanksgiving alone.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” and which opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview—offers ThanksVegan recipes on its website.
