Please see the following statement by PETA Vice President Dr. Alka Chandna regarding Inotiv-owned Bioanalytical Systems’ recent U.S. Department of Agriculture citations for violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act:
Inotiv—which is now closing a massive dog-breeding facility in Virginia over its horrific mistreatment of laboratory-bound beagles, exposed in a PETA undercover investigation—has been caught violating minimum animal welfare laws at its Indiana toxicology testing laboratory, Bioanalytical Systems. Federal inspectors found that two monkeys had died after being strapped into restraint chairs while their cages were being cleaned. It defies comprehension that a company that posts tens of millions of dollars in profit each year can’t clean monkeys’ cages without killing the animals. Inotiv workers also managed to fracture a pig’s leg during a toxicology study. The company should take a page from its experience in Virginia and close down its Indiana hellhole as well.
