New Clinic, New Jobs! PETA Grows Local Low-Cost Veterinary Services

The Jessica Beath Clinic at Farrington Firehouse got a makeover recently as PETA set up shop to offer low-cost spay/neuter services for the region’s cats and dogs, helping to prevent companion animal overpopulation and homelessness. The brick-and-mortar facility marks an expansion of PETA’s fleet of four high-volume mobile spay/neuter clinics, which have performed more than 200,000 sterilization surgeries for hundreds of underserved communities in Virginia for two decades.

PETA is eager to provide even more services and is looking for the following veterinary professionals to join the team. (Listings are also available at PETA.org/Jobs.)

• Licensed veterinary technicians, who perform physical exams on patients and administer and monitor vaccines and for whom relief contract employment is available
• Veterinary assistants, who admit patients to the clinic and monitor them throughout discharge
• Veterinarians, who perform surgical sterilizations and oversee the administration of pre-anesthetic and anesthetic drugs and for whom relief contract employment is available
• Client services representatives, who assist with checking in clients, data entry, and the day-to-day operations of the program and promote the humane care of animals

“While the pandemic led many other clinics to close, animal guardians are still eager to do the right thing by seeking sterilization services for their beloved cats and dogs and giving them a happier, healthier future,” says PETA Senior Vice President of Cruelty Investigations Daphna Nachminovitch. “PETA can barely keep up with the backlog of patients and invites skilled, caring veterinary professionals in the region to join our team.”
