Tethering/Chaining

§ 28-9 Chaining or tethering of dogs.

(a) Dogs must be able to move freely when chained or tethered and shall be confined for a period no greater than eight hours within a twenty-four hour period, with a maximum of four (4) hours at any one interval and a minimum one (1) hour period between confinements. The size of the tether or chain must be a minimum of fifteen (15’) linear feet and shall remain tangle free. Dogs must be equipped with properly fitting harness or buckle-type collars. The tether or chain shall be constructed of lightweight cable. A doghouse shall be accessible to dogs that are chained or tethered. (b) No dogs shall be chained after the hour of 11:00 PM in the evening.
