For National Crayon Day (today), to give children a colorful way to work off their excess energy and engage their creativity, PETA is excited to have teamed up with Crayola for the launch of a new product: The Little Animal Rights Activist’s First Paint-Throwing Kit lets kids fire a spray gun (with up to a 25-foot distance capability) filled with washable red paint at anyone wearing clothing made from an animal’s fur or skin. It’s paintball with a purpose.
“Children love animals, and this ‘kit with a conscience’ will allow them to score an A+ for animal rights activism,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “In focus groups, kids were thrilled to be able to use their playtime to become animal protectors, thanks to PETA’s latest corporate tie-up’s development of this new product.”
Young people have a natural affinity for animals and a growing desire for activism, often reminding adults that something they buy may harm animals. Many of them have seen snippets of the investigative videos that PETA entities have released showing suffering animals on fur farms or sheep shearers hitting and kicking frightened sheep during shearing and have asked honest questions about it all.
Suitable for ages 3 and up, the kit, available here, also comes with two refillable paint cartridges, animal-shaped stencils, and usage instructions. The paint is washable and won’t leave permanent marks on surfaces, skin, or clothing, making cleanup easy.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
