In a nationwide battle royal to see who takes the cake, Riley’s Vegan Sweets and Eats has come out in the top tier. Beating out eateries from across the country, the local favorite clinched a spot on PETA’s list of the Top 10 Vegan Sweet Treats in the U.S. for its Jumbo Cinnamon Rolls. Dished up in a variety of flavors throughout the year, including classic, chocolate, pecan, and pumpkin spice, these tasty hand-rolled treats are perfect for Valentine’s Day—or any day!

Riley’s February menu includes the cinnamon rolls as well as doughnuts, cookies, brownies, and cookie sandwiches—available daily at the bakery’s storefront location and also delivered fresh to the Hy-Vee store in Sheridan Village every Thursday morning.

“With these award-winning cinnamon rolls, Riley’s Vegan Sweets and Eats has rolled a beloved comfort food and kindness to animals into one decadent treat,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “All the eateries on PETA’s list prove that it’s as easy as vegan pie to dish out delicious treats that are also sweet to animals this Valentine’s Day.”

Consumers’ demand for vegan food out of concern for animals, the environment, and their health has sent the vegan food market skyrocketing: It grew two and a half times faster in 2021 than it did between 2018 and 2020, and it’s expected to reach $22 billion by 2025.

Other winners on PETA’s list include HaleLife Bakery with locations in Clearwater, St. Petersburg, and Tampa, Florida; Jalen’s Bakery in Fresno, California; and Sprig & Vine in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Each eatery will receive a framed certificate from PETA, which offers free vegan Valentine’s Day dessert recipes on its website along with a selection of sweet gifts from the PETA Shop.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
