‘Trussed-Up’ PETA Supporter to Promote a Turkey-Free Holiday in Omaha

In a push for America’s heartland to have a heart for animals, on Thursday, a nearly nude PETA volunteer will lie in a “trussed-up” pose on a cutting board beside two giant “turkey carcasses.” The downtown display will be the latest action in PETA’s “ThanksVegan” tour through the Midwest, which asks that everyone celebrate with a vegan feast.
When: Thursday, November 18, 12 noon
Where: At the intersection of S. 12th and Howard streets, Omaha
“When people realize that turkeys love their families, feel pain and fear, and value their lives, they’re eager to put a Tofurky on the table,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA offers recipes, shopping tips, and more on its website so that everyone can enjoy a delicious ThanksVegan meal that leaves gentle birds in peace.”
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
