PETA Dog Defenders to Hound Texas A&M President at Alumni Event

On Monday, a pack of PETA supporters will hold a flaunting outside the Houston A&M Club’s dinner with Texas A&M University President M. Katherine Banks to demand that she allow the 19 dogs who were born in the school’s notorious canine muscular dystrophy laboratory to be adopted into loving homes. Nine of the dogs are currently held at the veterinary school’s teaching laboratory—they’re healthy, and PETA wants them released for adoption immediately.

When:    Monday, November 8, 5:30–6:30 p.m.

Where:    Post Oak Grill, 1415 S. Post Oak Ln. (near Doliver Drive), Houston

“Texas A&M did the right thing when it stopped breeding dogs to suffer from canine muscular dystrophy,” says PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo. “PETA is now calling on the university to release the remaining dogs and provide them with the loving homes that they deserve.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to experiment on”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
