Barney the bull, who was on the run for months on Long Island, is now safe at his new sanctuary home (where he’s now known as Hannibal). PETA and Long Island Orchestrating for Nature (LION) have just placed a larger-than-life tribute to him—and other bulls—at the intersection of Montauk Highway and S. County Road in Brookhaven, NY. The groups aim to inspire anyone moved by Barney’s story to help other animals escape the slaughterhouse knife by going vegan—and for help getting started, PETA offers a three-week challenge.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
