PETA is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the safe return of Ellie, a 14-year-old toy Manchester terrier who disappeared from her guardian’s car in the parking lot of the Real Canadian Superstore on Richmond Road at around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 26. Ellie is black with brown paws and was wearing a blue vest at the time. As a result of her advanced age, she is sight- and hearing-impaired and is especially vulnerable.
PETA’s offer brings the total claimable reward up to $6,000, as Ellie’s guardian is offering $1,000. Police have opened a case, but no suspects have been identified.
“The panic and fear that this fragile, elderly little dog must feel at being separated from her guardian of more than a decade and everything she knows is difficult to imagine,” says PETA Senior Director of Cruelty Casework Stephanie Bell. “PETA is asking anyone who knows something about her disappearance to come forward immediately so that she can be returned home safe.”
Anyone with pertinent information should contact the Ottawa Police Service at 613-236-1222 and reference case number 2021-814397.
