On Tuesday, PETA supporters—armed with “Closed for Cruelty” stickers—will descend on Millennium Maxwell Hotel with “dead dogs” and suitcases sporting a spoof “Millhellium” logo to decry the company’s sponsorship of the Iditarod dog race, in which more than 150 dogs have died.
When: Tuesday, September 14, 12 noon
Where: Millennium Maxwell Hotel, 2025 Rosa L. Parks Blvd., Nashville
“This much-despised race forces dogs to cross nearly 1,000 miles of ice and wind in just two weeks, running some animals to their deaths,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is calling on Millennium Hotels and Resorts to check out of the Iditarod’s cruelty to dogs by ending this sponsorship.”
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to use for entertainment”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
