You May Have Missed These Vegan and Cruelty-Free Drugstore Products

Did you know that you can shop for vegan and cruelty-free makeup at your local drugstore? It’s true! In fact, there are some really great finds right in your own neighborhood, just waiting to be discovered. If you’re ever unsure which brands are cruelty-free, PETA has made it easy for you by compiling this helpful list of brands that don’t test on animals. You can also check on the back of a package for the cruelty-free bunny logo. Look for these cruelty-free makeup products at your local CVS, Walgreens, Target, Rite Aid, or Walmart.

Here are some of our favorite vegan and cruelty-free drugstore makeup finds:

1. e.l.f. Liquid Matte Lipstick in Praline

Everything e.l.f. makes is terrific for so many reasons—most importantly, because everything it produces is vegan. You can reapply this lipstick and rest assured that no animal was tortured or exploited to make it.

2. Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Blush

Some blushes contain carmine, which is the crushed bodies of dead beetles (um, no thank you). By contrast, this one from Physicians Formula is completely vegan and cruelty-free, not to mention absolutely gorgeous.

3. NYX #THISISEVERYTHING Lip Scrub

Ditch the royal jelly–based lip scrubs—bees work too hard to make it for humans just to steal it. This one from NYX has a jojoba oil base for extra moisture.

4. Milani Strobelight Instant Glow Powder

Milani’s website features a vegan section, so you can shop with peace of mind on your next trip to the drugstore, knowing that none of your purchases contains animal-derived ingredients.

5. EcoTools Start the Day Beautifully Kit

A few makeup brushes are still made from the hair of badgers who are violently killed for their fur. You can blend easy knowing that EcoTools’ kit is completely cruelty-free.

6. Pacifica Dream Big Lash Extending 7 in 1 Mascara

Keep beeswax out of your eyes and inside the hive with this vegan mascara.

7. ella + mila Nail Polish Collection

ella + mila’s vegan nail polish contains none of the most harmful chemicals found in certain nail polishes, such as formaldehyde.

8. Honest Beauty Tinted Lip Balm

This vegan balm nourishes lips and adds a little pop of color. We’ll take this two-in-one product, especially on a Monday morning.

9. Milani Make It Last Setting Spray Prime + Correct + Set

Make sure that your makeup can last through anything, including—but not limited to—a fun night out or an animal rights protest. This vegan setting spray will do the trick.

10. W3LL PEOPLE Expressionist Brow Gel

Tame or un-tame your brows (you do you), with this natural-looking vegan brow gel.

Purchasing cruelty-free and vegan makeup products is one of the easiest ways you can oppose animal testing. More than 4,000 companies are now part of PETA’s cruelty-free database, and many of them offer fully vegan makeup that you can look good in and feel great about using. So the next time that you’re in the market for some new makeup (and let’s be honest—when are we not in the market for some new makeup?), don’t forget to use the handy Bunny Free app to search for a brand or product right on your phone.
