Video: More Evidence That Pit Bulls Are the Most Abused Dogs on Earth
Los Angeles County authorities are looking for a suspect who was caught on camera mercilessly throwing a pit bull mix over a hillside.
It’s unclear, but many assume the unnamed man seen in the video is the dog’s guardian. In a video exclusive to Fox 11, seconds before being abandoned, the dog is seen jumping through an open passenger car window. The California driver then gets out of his car with the unsuspecting dog in his arms, casually walks to the edge of the road, and chucks her down the hillside like a piece of garbage. The man shows zero remorse for his actions as he walks back to his car.
Thankfully, the pit bull sustained no serious injuries. It was reported that although she tumbled 15 to 20 feet, the brush was able to cushion and stop her free fall.
Reuben Roque, the neighbor of the person who caught the incident on video, fostered the dog for two weeks. Animal control officers arrived to take the dog as evidence in their investigation and are required to get her a veterinary checkup. Roque’s eyes filled with tears as he discussed the callous man.
“He pulled her into the car, warmed her up, and threw her out and then off and over,” Roque told Fox 11. Given how comfortable the pit bull was entering the man’s car, Roque also believes the man was the dog’s guardian.
Roque hopes that after the investigation, he will be able to give his new friend the “forever home” that she deserves. If no one comes forward to claim her, animal control stated that it would release her to Roque and waive all fees. Officers are asking for any lead that might identify the man clearly seen in the video.
In the past two decades, pit bulls have become the most abused dogs on Earth. People use them as “guard” dogs, chained outdoors in all weather extremes, and they have become the number one breed admitted to many animal shelters.
What You Can Do
Everyone can help pit bulls by adopting, never buying, their animal companions as well as by supporting spay/neuter requirements and anti-chaining laws. Urge people who keep their dogs chained to let them live indoors as members of the family. And always report abuse and neglect. Pit bulls need all the friends they can get.
